How many tabs is too many? Overload, and when did I change directions?

Filed Under (Blogging, Time Management) by bigknoxy on 20-11-2008

So, I am sitting here working on my blog, most call it “researching”, and I happen to look up and realize how many open tabs I have in my browser. (yes those are all really sites I was looking at) What can I say I am a tab-aholic.

tabs, tabs and more tabs

tabs, tabs and more tabs

One of the things I realized is that I am not actualy working to improve any my blogs. What started out as good intentioned niche site research has turned into twitting, stumbling, emailing, chatting, etc. While I love to socialize with all of you I also need to learn to stay focused. It is something I strugle with every day and with so many good discractions out there it can be a very danting task.

Time manaagement is not easy and if you are just starting out in the blogging scene then I would sugguest that is one of the first things you focus on. At first you may not really need this because you will be all excited to get started and get your blog off the ground, but as you go on you need to set aside a certain amount of time and give yourself a goal during this timeframe.  After you complete this task then you can go enjoy your sammich with Normal Joe!

Seriously though Normal Joe is one of best that I know about scheduling his time and has done many post on this very issue. Looks like I need to go read them again. :) But I think the important thing is realizing that you could be doing more with your time. Once you realize this you are already halfway there.

THE BLOGGERHOOD: The Initial Findings

Filed Under (Blogging) by bigknoxy on 19-11-2008

As you know I have decided to take a look into this blogging mystery known as “The Bloggerhood”. Here is what I have found so far:

If you look up the term ‘bloggerhood’ on the Urban Dictionary it reads the following:

1. BLOGGERHOOD

Another name for the blogsphere. The term combines two words: blogger and neighborhood.

    1. Being creative at writing prose, Joe decided that it was time to join the bloggerhood.

Does that seem a bit vauge to anyone else?    Also, I can’t help but to notice the name ‘Joe’ in this so called example… Could this be refering to the one and only Normal Joe? Hmmmm…

I also did a quick Google search for the term Bloggerhood and as you can see, the results were less than intreging.  The fact that there is so little information about this in google sets off a red flag to me and here is why: Why would a group of elite bloggers who have secret ways to get their blogs to the top spot in Google in like 3.2 seconds allow such little information to be out there on this subject?

Sounds like a conspiracy to me.

The Mission to find: The BLOGGERHOOD

Filed Under (Blogging) by bigknoxy on 18-11-2008

I have been browsing around the web for a while now and every once in a while I will see this Bloggerhood image on random blogs (below). I always try to click on it, but it is never linked. What kind of torture is this?

The Bloggerhood

What is this ‘bloggerhood’? Is it a super secret ninja samurai society that only the elite bloggers in the world are allowed it? Do they have super secret meetings/pot-luck dinners in locations only known to the brothern of the bloggerhood?

Does it really exist? No one seems to know… I will ask other bloggers, who normally like to talk it up, about this and suddenly they can’t find the words. It is like they become vaults, and there is only one key to unlock (maybe there is a code word… hmmmm..) I don’t know what ‘BLOGGERHOOD’ is… BUT I WANT IT.

If have any clues to this Bloggerhood, please help a brother out… I WILL FIND YOU BLOGGERHOOD!

Niche Sites anyone?

Filed Under (Niche sites) by bigknoxy on 15-11-2008

Lately I have been extra curious about niche sites and have been thinking about about starting a few more. Luckily I happen to stumble across Gary Conn’s Blog.

Now, I have been to Gary’s blog before, but lately I have been slacking on my blog reading (doh!) so I hadn’t visited for a while. Anyway, I found this post where Gary basically dropped a knoledge bomb on us all. He found a niche, explained how he found it, why it was a good niche and what you would need to do to get this site making you money. I have never seen a someone in the make money online niche do all the heavy lifting before only to say “here ya go”.

So, even though I was not able to get the domain he offered up, I took a lot from that post… lots of good information that will help me in the future. Now I just have get out there and do it!

Some Bloggers I like and I entered a contest

Filed Under (Blogging) by bigknoxy on 12-11-2008

First off I wanted to say that I wrote a Haiku for a contest.

SUM BEE he called me / Normal Joe calls me that now / HE is a sum bee

Now, I am going to talk about some of my favorite bloggers. These are people that I look to for advice when I venture into the blogging world.

IM with Joe - this is the Normal Joe I was speaking of in the work of art above. He is a really cool, down to earth guy who is one thing that a lot of other people aren’t: HONEST. Seriously check him out, he has got some AWESOME videos.

John Cow - The COW is just… man, if you don’t know the COW and you are reading MY blog then you NEED to check it out. The Cow covers everything about Making Money Online and he knows what he is talkig about because he has been there.

Joel Comm -This guy is the Adsense guru. I bought a copy of his book and I am still making my way through it, but it is great stuff. This guy makes $$$$ from Google Adsense so you think you want to test that out I would definitly check him out.

There are plenty more bloggers I check out, but I think I will save them for later. :)
Also, I have started a few new niche blogs, hoping to start a little passive income, so I’ll be reporting back to you guys on that too. (”passive income” I like that term)

Be easy y’all. And remember, that’s how I roll blog
